The Cessna Citation 501/551 SpA Type Rating Course provides the pilot with the necessary skills and knowledge required to obtain a C501/551 SpA Type Rating. This course meets the EASA requirements.

The course is divided in 3 stages including Computer Based Training (CBT), classroom training, self-studies and flight training.

Our instructors are highly qualified and experienced airline pilots. We have one of the highest percentages of airline experience divided amongst our instructors. This is a key factor for ensuring that our programs are up to date, meeting standards and requirements in a changing aviation industry.

The course includes:

  • Theory (55 hours cbt/classroom training)
  • Aircraft Training (10 hours aircraft training)
  • Course literature

Stage 1:

The theoretical part of the C501/551 Type Rating takes 2 weeks to complete full time. It is a combination of Computer Based Training (CBT) and classroom training with our highly experienced instructors. During this stage you will cover the aircraft systems in-depth, flight planning including performance and mass & balance.

Stage 2:

The second stage takes up to a week to complete and involves a great amount of self study. This stage starts with the normal procedures of the aircraft, you will get to know all the switches and it’s procedures. This stage is completed when you have received the training required to start your first Aircraft training session.

Stage 3:

The third stage contains all your flight training which will be conducted in the aircraft and consists of 10 hours excluding the skill test. The normal rate to complete all 10 hours of flight training + 1 skill test session takes approximately 2 weeks.

In order to be eligible for the C550/551 Type Rating course you need to fulfill all the requirements listed below:

Valid Medical Class 1 is required prior to starting your type rating course. Medical Class 1 will be accepted from any EASA country. Do you need more information about obtaining an EASA Medical Class 1? Contact us.
Prior to starting the type rating training course, the applicant shall have:

  • Commercial Pilot License (for EASA applicants, hold frozen ATPL)
  • Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
  • Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC) or have experience of at least 500 hours as pilot in multi-pilot operations in accordance with PART-FCL
  • Minimum 1500 hours total time of which at least 500 PIC.
In order to issue an any EASA rating you will need to obtain a language proficiency level which follows the ICAO standard. The minimum level required to start your training is English level 4 (4 out of 6).
